To take off the air bag, first place the front wheels straight ahead and run the steering lock. Next, loosen and take off the steering wheel retaining nut while holding the wheel rim to avoid only using the steering lock, which may damage the wheel rim. Mark alignment of the steering wheel and the steering column shaft. Then, take the locking screw off the plastic strip lock and lock it to the lug of the airbag contact unit by light tightening so that it does not rotate. Carefully remove the steering wheel from the column splines without damaging the wiring of the contact unit. To refit the indicator column, make sure that the switch column is in the central (off) position (to avoid breaking the switch tab), pass the contact unit wiring through the steering wheel center, seat the wheel on the column splines and make sure that it is aligned with the previously made marks. Refit the steering wheel retaining nut and tighten it to the specified torque. Finally, remove the locking screw on the contact unit lug, refit it to the plastic strip, and screw it into the wheel before putting the airbag back on.
