- Q: How to remove and install the steering wheel on Volvo 960?A:To remove and install the steering wheel, first drive on a level surface with the steering wheel straight. Disconnect the negative battery cable and tape the end of the cable. Turn the ignition key to the position I to turn the steering lock off. Remove the air bag assembly, then remove the steering wheel mounting bolt. Lock the contact reel release locking screw in contact reel parking hole in the steering wheel, make sure the locking screw is in the plastic strip, and lock the contact reel pin to lock the contact reel in zero position.
