How to remove and refit a steering wheel on Volvo V50?

To have the steering wheel off, drive the car forwards and park it so that the front wheels are straight ahead. Start by taking out the airbag in the driver's side and disconnecting the green wiring plug at the top of the steering wheel aperture. Next, undo the steering wheel centre retaining bolt and make sure the steering wheel is held in the straight ahead position. Remove the lower screw from the store and insert it to hold the rotary contact reel in place. Lift the steering wheel out of the column shaft, passing the wiring and the plastic strip through the hole in the wheel. For refitting, make sure the front wheels still point straight ahead, then feed the wiring through the hole in the steering wheel and make it hook up with the steering column shaft, making sure the marks made while removing it are aligned and that the pegs in the contact reel fit into the recesses in the steering wheel hub. Be careful not to turn the steering wheel when the contact reel is locked or damaged. Refit the steering wheel retaining bolt and tighten it finger tight.
