How to remove and refit a steering wheel on Volvo V70?

To remove the steering wheel, drive the car straight ahead and park the car with the front wheels straight ahead. Disconnect the battery negative lead and wait for 10 minutes. Place masking tape on the top of the steering wheel hub and steering column upper shroud and draw a line with a pencil across both - for alignment. Remove the airbag unit from the steering wheel, making sure that the steering wheel is straight before locking the rotary contact reel with a lower screw. Undo the steering wheel center retaining bolt and lift the wheel off the column shaft while passing the wiring and plastic strip through the hole. For refitting, be sure that the front wheels are straight ahead, pass the wiring through the steering wheel hole, attach the steering wheel with the column shaft, and align the marks made during removal and make sure the contact reel pegs fit in the recesses. Turning the steering wheel when the contact reel is locked to prevent damage. Refit steering wheel retaining bolt and make it finger tight and remove airbag contact reel locking screw and refit screw and plastic. Finally, tighten the steering wheel retaining bolt to the correct torque and reattach the airbag unit to the steering wheel.
