Counter hold the tie rod and tighten the locknut, refit the front wheel, lower the car and tighten the wheel bolts in a diagonal order to specified torque. Finally, have the toe-in of the front wheel checked and adjusted by a Volvo dealer.

For refitting, screw the tie rod end on the tie rod with as many turns as noted when it was removed, snap the balljoint in the steering arm, place a new nut, and tighten it to the torque. Counterhold the tie rod and tighten the locknut, refit the front wheel, lower the car and tighten wheel bolts in a diagonal sequence to specified torque. Finally, have the toe in of the front wheel checked and adjusted by a Volvo dealer or suitably-equipped repairer.
