To remove the timing belt, remove the brake vacuum pump and the starter motor first. Loosen the bolts holding the
Camshaft pulley in place, while holding the sprocket in place with a tool that can engage the holes in the sprocket, so that the camshaft will not turn. Next, pull the pulley from the camshaft and carefully remove the oil seal using a screwdriver or lever so as not to damage the camshaft surface. To refit, put a camshaft locking pin into the hole in the cylinder head, turning the camshaft slightly if necessary. Unscrew the blanking plug on the face of the Cylinder block, front and left-hand side, insert the appropriate tool, rotate the crankshaft anti-clockwise until the crankshaft web of No 5 cylinder stops against the tool, checking that the marks on the Crankshaft pulley flange and oil pump housing are lined up. Clean the seating in the bearing cap, and apply a little oil to the lips of the new oil seal, and fit carefully (using a tubular spacer or similar tool), ensuring that the outer edge of the oil seal is flush with the sealing cap. Refit the pulley to the camshaft, finger tighten the three retaining bolts and align the other bolt hole correctly before doing up. Finally, reattach the timing belt and tighten the camshaft pulley bolts to the specified torque, completing the process by reversing the process of removal.
