To remove the strut on S70 models, first remove the B-pillar trim panel and the rear parcel shelf. To do this, next, release the support strut front balljoint from the mounting stud, then remove the retaining clip that holds the strut to the boot lid hinge and extract the strut. For C70 models, support the boot lid, remove the retaining clip securing the top of the strut to the boot lid hinge and pull the top of the strut off its balljoint mounting before removing the strut from the car. For refitting, follow the reverse order of removal, taking care not to hurt the struts as they are full of gas under pressure. If new struts are fitted, dispose of old ones in a safe way and never burn them.
