To remove the hood release cable, unbolt the hood lock from the crossmember and detach the cable from the lock. Firmly apply the handbrake, loosen the driver's side front wheel nuts, jack up the front of the car, and remove the wheel. Remove the retaining screws and fasteners to maneuver out the wheel arch liner from under the driver's side wing. Free the hood release cable from its clips and ties, pulling it through under the wheel arch while noting its correct routing. Inside the car, undo the retaining screws, including the lower screw hidden behind a trim cap, and remove the driver's side lower facia panel, disconnecting the wiring connector from the footwell light. Remove the retaining screws to free the hood release lever from the body and unhook it from the end of the cable, then return outside to withdraw the cable from underneath the wheel arch. For refitting, feed the cable back in through the bulkhead grommet into the passenger compartment, reconnect the release lever to the cable, and refit the lever to the body, tightening its retaining screws securely before refitting the lower panel to the facia. Route the cable correctly underneath the wing and through to the front of the car, securing it in position with all necessary clips and ties, then refit the hood lock. Finally, check the operation of the lock, refit the wheel arch liner and roadwheel, lower the car to the ground, and tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque.
