How to remove and install Windshield Wiper Arms and Wiper Blade on Volvo 740?

To remove the wiper arm, carefully pry up or lift the plastic or metal cover at the base, unscrew and remove the holding nut. Matchmark the arm and the pivot for proper alignment when reinstalling. Carefully lift the blade and arm off the glass and remove the arm off the pivot. For installation, place the arm over the pivot and tighten the retaining nut with a force of 10-13 ft. lbs. (14-18 Nm) so it is not too tight so as not to damage the splines. Confirm that the wiper blade is positioned correctly on the glass before tightening the nut and finally, install the cover.

How to remove and refit Windshield Wiper Arms on Volvo V40?

To remove the wiper arm, operate the wiper motor and then switch it off to allow the wiper arm to spring back to its at rest position. For a windscreen wiper arm, open the bonnet and carefully prise off the trim cap from the wiper arm retaining nut in order to access the wiper arm. For a tailgate wiper arm, remove the trim cover to get the retaining nut. Next slacken and remove wiper arm retaining nut, lift blade off glass and pull it from its spindle using grips if needed to pull it off easily. For refitting, make sure that the wiper and spindle are clean and dry before you put the arm in the right position. Refit the retaining nut and tighten to the specified torque, followed by replacing the trim cap or cover.
