Volvo V50 Engine Mount

Volvo V50 Engine Mount is the crucial piece that ensures the power plant is firmly seated and provides the necessary resistance against the shakes and rattles that are experienced in the cabin. In each Volvo V50 pack, the two objectives of the twin mount are to secure the engine and the transaxle to the chassis and absorb the vibration that is generated whenever the fuel burns. The first style in the model range is based on a plain sandwich of steel plates bonded together through thick rubber, forming a tough but flexible pad that restricts movement without conveying hardness. Hydraulic versions, also known as hydromounts, were later introduced, with internal fluid providing additional damping so the drivers are not buzzed as much at idle, even as the drivetrain is held back during launches. The optimal trims will have electronic active mounts which alter character dynamically so that when the car is not in motion they will be soft, but when the revs increase they will become stiff to give comfort and accurate engine control. A hydraulic mount can leak and an active Engine Mount might require electronic inspections, but all of them have the same indicators of failure such as more pronounced thumps or rubbing sounds if the rubber becomes degraded or the fluid leaks through. Visual inspection of the integrity of each Engine Mount on a routine basis with mild prying to release weight is useful to ensure that issues do not become critical. Since the Volvo V50 chassis is set to mount a few parts, by installing the right part, the ride is kept intact, hoses and wiring connected to it are not damaged, and remaining on Volvo mounts leaves the same reliability and comfort in the vehicle even after years of driving.

OEM parts are the only choice for top quality and real functionality. They pass strict checks, and they match Volvo's factory specs, so installation is easy. If you need new Engine Mount and you want quality and fit. You will find both here. Our site has a wide range of OEM Volvo V50 parts. The prices are unbeatable, allowing you to get value for money. Each genuine V50 Engine Mount comes with the manufacturer's warranty. That gives you peace of mind. We ship fast to your door. Volvo V50 Engine Mount Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to inspect and replace engine mount and torque rods on Volvo V50?
    A:
To check the vehicle, if better access is required, jack up the front end, and support it firmly on axle stands, before removing the undershield. Inspect the mounting rubbers for any cracks, hardening, or separation from the metal; replace any damaged or deteriorated mounts; Be sure all fasteners are firmly tightened (a torque wrench is preferable). Check for wear in the mounting by carefully levering against the mounting with a large screwdriver or crowbar to see if there is free play. If there is too much free play, check to see if the fasteners are tight and then replace the worn parts. For the right-hand mounting, pull the plastic cover direct upwards to remove it, release the coolant expansion tank and move it out of the way, remove the upper torque rod if fitted, support the engine sump with a trolley jack using a block of wood to prevent it being damaged, unscrew the locking nuts and retaining bolts, and withdraw the mounting. Refitting is the process of reversing the removal process and tightening the bolts to the proper torque. For the mounting on the left, repeat the process of removing the plastic cover, the air cleaner housing and the battery tray and support the engine sump, undo the mounting bolts and remove the mounting. Again, refitting is a reverse of removal with proper torque applied. For the upper torque rod, remove the plastic cover, undo the torque rod bolt at the suspension strut turret along with the mounting bolts and maneuver the torque rod out. Lay the new torque rod into position and tighten the fasteners to the specified torque. For the lower torque rod once the front of the vehicle is jacked up and securely supported, remove the engine undershield and remove the necessary bolts to remove the torque rod. Position the new torque rod and tighten the fasteners then refit the roadwheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
  • Q: Do Engine Mounts Require Frequent Attention, and What Steps Should Be Taken if They Are Broken or Deteriorated on Volvo V50?
    A:
The engine/transmission mountings are not usually in need of regular attention but any mountings which are broken or deteriorated should be replaced immediately to avoid damage or wearing of the driveline components. While individual mountings can be removed and refitted, if more than one mounting is disturbed at a time they must be reassembled and their fasteners made tight in the positions marked during their removal. On reassembly, the entire engine/transmission unit weight should not be supported on the mountings until all are correctly positioned with respect to the marks made during removal and the mounting fasteners should be adjusted to specified torque settings. When inspecting it is recommended that the engine/transmission unit is raised slightly to take the weight off mountings, the vehicle should be supported on axle stands. A jack with a block of wood should be placed under the sump to carefully raise the engine/transmission. The mountings should be examined for any cracks, hardened rubber, or separation from metal components and any relative movement between the mounting brackets and engine/transmission or body should be evaluated. If there is movement detected, the engine should be lowered and the mounting fasteners should be checked and tightened. In the case of renewal, the engine should be supported beneath sump. The mounting method for the right hand mounting is to pull the plastic cover upward, pull the coolant expansion tank aside without disconnecting the coolant pipe, indicate the mounting position, unclip the refrigerant pipe, unscrew the locking nuts and retaining bolts, and pull out the mounting. Upon refitting, all fasteners should be tightened to stated torque settings, beginning with the locking nuts to the engine casing. The left hand mounting requires taking off the air cleaner assembly, battery and battery tray after disconnecting any wiring, marking the mounting position, unscrewing the central retaining screw and dismantling the mounting from the bracket. During refitting, self-locking nuts should be replaced, as well as ensuring all fasteners are tightened to the recommended torque settings. The rear mounting or roll restrictor requires to be unbolted from the subframe and transmission by unscrewing the bolts at the center of the mounting, and in refitting the bolts should be screwed tightly in accordance with the specified torque settings.
