  Q: How to replace the clutch cable assembly on Volvo 244?

  Unhook the return spring for the release lever and slacken off the two adjusting nuts holding the outer cable sleeve to the housing boss, and take the inner cable off the clutch lever. Unscrew the adjustment nut on the back of the cable sleeve and pull the cable out of the housing boss. Remove the clutch pedal bearing bolt, and remove the inner cable from the clutch pedal, which leaves the cable open to removal from the car. To refit the new cable assembly, follow the reverse procedure of removal, and make sure that the cable is adjusted accordingly.
