In order to remove the oil pump, it is first necessary to perform the necessary operations and then remove the four bolts that hold the oil pump to the cylinder block. Carefully pull back the pump assembly by applying leverage to the upper and lower parting lugs using a screwdriver, and recover the gasket. Clean the mating faces of the pump and cylinder block thoroughly and remove any and all traces of the old gasket. For inspection, remove the two screws used to hold the pump halves, as well as the gear cover, taking care of the pressure relief valve spring that may come out. Extract the relief valve spring, plunger and pump gears and with care lever out the crankshaft oil seal, getting a new seal for refitting. Clean all components and inspect the gears and body, as well as the gear cover, for any wear or damage, replacing any worn or damaged components. Refit the gears to the pump body with the markings on the large gear facing upwards, lubricate the gears and lubricate and fit the relief valve plunger and spring. Install a new O-ring seal to the pump body, install the cover and tighten with the two screws. For refitting, a new gasket must be used to fit the pump on the block and guide it with the pump retaining bolts and draw it with the crankshaft pulley nut and spacers. Once in place, tighten the retaining bolts diagonally to specified torque. Lubricate the cover, the crankshaft and the new oil seal, fitting the seal with the lips inwards and using a tube, or the old seal inverted, to tap it into place until flush. Finally refit the crankshaft sprocket and pulley then the
Timing Belt.
