    When removing the engine parts one needs to remove the plastic upper engine component cover, then the engine undershield. The following step is to unscrew the fuel hoses off the bracket on the upper cover and take off the crankshaft pulley. The five bolts should then be unscrewed to remove the upper cover and the same to the lower cover. To refit in reverse the operation, then carefully reassemble all the cover sections, each section correctly aligned, and the retaining bolts firmly screwed. Also, rejoin all hoses that have been dislodged and keep them clamped by the clips.

    Jack up and support the front of the vehicle, then remove the under shield. Using a block of wood on the head of a trolley jack to spread the load, place the trolley jack under the sump, raise the engine, and remove the right-hand Engine Mount. Next, remove the auxiliary drive belt and the crankshaft pulley. Undo the bolt and remove the pipe bracket on the front face of the timing belt cover. Release the five securing clips and remove the cover, which is a single piece on 2.4 litre engines and in two sections on 2.0 litre engines, noting that bolts are used on 2.0 litre engines instead of spring clips. For 2.0 litre engines, remove the lower timing belt cover, and for 2.4 litre engines, remove the lower belt guard. The refitting of the cover is a reversal of the removal procedure, ensuring that all disturbed hoses are reconnected and retained by their relevant clips.
