Before working on any part in the fuel system, see the precautions to be taken. Begin the removal process by disconnecting the battery negative lead. Next, take off the fuel rail and injectors and then the motorised throttle control unit. Take note of their fitted positions and disconnect the various vacuum hoses from the manifold. Remove the oil filler cap by unscrewing, and remove the cover over the ignition coils by unscrewing the Torx screws. Release the clamp on the engine breather hose to the camshaft cover. Undo the bolt or nut to lift the oil level dipstick guide tube bracket off the manifold. Slacken the lower row of manifold retaining bolts and then remove the upper and outside bolts to remove the manifold from the engine, discarding the gasket. Be aware that some models may have a support bracket fitted to the underside of the manifold and this should be undone and detached. For refitting purpose, you need to reverse the removal operations using new manifold gasket and new injectors seals and O-rings if the injectors need to. Locate the manifold gasket from the cylinder head and place the manifold in position, being careful to use the lower bolts to hold the gasket in position during refitting. If applicable feed the crankcase ventilation hose up between the 2nd and 3rd duct, and tighten the bolts to the specified torque setting.
