To remove the component, first disconnect the battery negative lead and depress the brake pedal several times to dissipate any vacuum in the brake booster. For left-hand-drive models, remove the ABS hydraulic modulator, then take out the brake master cylinder. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum feed by levering out the non-return valve on the front of the brake booster and disconnect the wiring connector from the brake pedal position sensor. Release the wiring loom and ducting around the brake booster as necessary for improved access. Remove the trim panel under the facia on the driver's side, which is secured by a single screw and pulled out of its locating slots at the top, then disconnect the wiring plug from the footwell light. Disconnect the brake booster pushrod and linkage from the brake pedal by removing the retaining clip, undo the four nuts, and remove the brake booster from the engine compartment, recovering the O-ring seal between the brake booster and the bulkhead. For refitting, reverse the removal process while ensuring the O-ring is in position before fitting the brake booster, tightening all nuts and bolts to the specified torque, refitting the master cylinder, reinstalling the ABS hydraulic modulator for left-hand-drive models, and bleeding the hydraulic system upon completion.
