    Never drive the vehicle with the air cleaner air filter removed, as excessive engine wear could result, and backfiring could even cause a fire under the bonnet. The air filter is located in the air cleaner assembly on the left-hand side of the engine compartment. Begin by undoing the Torx screws to remove the air cleaner top cover, which is retained by either 6 or 4 Torx screws depending on the engine fitted. Unclip the mass airflow sensor wiring harness clip from the cover as needed. Once the cover is removed, take out the air filter, noting its direction of fitting for the specific engine type. During routine service, the air filter must be renewed regardless of its apparent condition.
