How to remove the alternator on 2004 Volvo V40?

To take the alternator off of non GDI engines disconnect the battery, remove the drivebelt, and unbolt the power steering pump. Turn off the wiring and release alternator mounting bolts. For GDI engines, remove the engine cover, disconnect wiring and unbolt the alternator. Refit in reverse order finishing with the drivebelt.
