    How do you remove the alternator from 5-cylinder engines for the 2000 Volvo S40? Posted by Customer
    A:
    For 5-cylinder engines, pull the plastic cover on top of the engine upwards, slacken the clamp for the outlet pipe from the air cleaner housing, and remove the air pipe at the front of the engine. Then, disconnect the alternator B+ wire and control wiring plug, remove the mounting bolts, and take out the alternator.
