The engine mountings can be renewed one at a time with engine/transmission installed, providing suitable means of supporting the engine/transmission are available. Start by removing the battery negative lead. Remove or reposition any part that may be in the way of removal. Attach appropriate lifting equipment to the engine or place a jack and piece of wooden block under the sump or transmission as required. With engine supported remove the nuts or bolts of the mounting to be removed including: engine upper steady bar to engine mounting, engine lower steady bar, engine right-hand mounting to subframe. Remove the mounting weight off the mounting, and if necessary, raise the engine/transmission for clearance, and remove the mounting, noting any locating pegs or directional arrows to assist with refitting. Exercise care not to raise the engine/transmission by more than 30mm to avoid damaging the inner left hand constant velocity joint. For refitting, reverse the removal operations and make sure all the fastenings are tightened to the specified torque.
