To remove the outer handle without first slackening the two Torx screws holding the door lock in place. Next remove the plastic cover plate over the outer handle retaining screws and remove the two Torx screws underneath. For C70 models, remove the door trim panel, and then push out the lock operating peg from the back of the handle through the inner door aperture. While putting the outer handle out, press in the lock to disengage the forward pivot and the lock cylinder operating rod from the Toc motor. Refitting is the reverse process of removal, making sure that it functions properly on C70 models before reattaching the door trim. For the front door lock cylinder, removal of the outer handle makes it easy, but it can be accessed without it by removing the plastic cover plate. Prize off the end cover around the lock cylinder and recover the seal, prize up the retaining clip and withdraw the lock cylinder, noting the orientation of the slot for the retaining clip. Refitting involves inserting the lock cylinder properly and without the use of the key to ensure proper alignment and testing to ensure proper operation. To remove the front door lock assembly, remove the door trim panel and any applicable plastic cover and remove the front door lock cylinder and outer handle. Completely remove the lock holding screws, undo the window guide channel lower fixing screw, and inner handle screws. Maneuver the lock assembly in the upward direction, disconnect the lock button operating rod if required and release the wiring connectors keeping note of their position. Unhook the interior handle operating cable from the lock and remove it from the vehicle. Refitting is made in reverse order, making certain that it will run correctly before reattaching the door trim. For the rear door lock assembly on S70/V70 models, start by removing the door trim panel and outer handle and the window guide channel lower retaining screw should be slackened but not removed. Loosen and remove the screws for the interior handle and lower it out of its location, unhook the interior handle operating cable from the lock and note its routing. Remove the lock assembly by bending the window guide channel to move it downwards and disconnect the wiring connectors if needed. Refitting is the reverse of the removal steps, with care to ensure that the door trim works properly before it is reattached.
