In order to remove the brake light switches, you must first remove the battery negative lead. Next, remove the trim panel underneath the facia for the driver's side which is held by a single screw and can be pulled out of its locating slots at the top, disconnect the wiring plug for the footfall light. Slightly depress the brake pedal and push the brake light switch in towards the brake pedal to release the locking sleeve and pull the locking sleeve towards the switch plunger as far as it will go. Compress the switch side retaining catches and remove the switch from the pedal bracket, breaking the wiring connector(s) as you remove the switch. For refitting, be sure to fully extend the switch locking sleeve towards the switch plunger, re-connect wiring and with the brake pedal depressed, locate the switch in the pedal bracket, pushing it in until you hear a click as the retaining catches clip into position. Pull up the brake pedal as far as possible to automatically adjust the switch, rock the switch gently to ensure it is securely in place, reconnect the battery and check the operation of the brake lights before refitting the panels that were removed for access.
