To remove roadwheels first you need to slacken the nuts and chock the front wheels and raise the back of the car and make sure the car is well supported on axle stands before removing roadwheels. For left hand side spring attach spring compressors and compress the spring, Volvo tools No 951 2911 and 951 2897 or other compressors. After taking off the
Shock Absorber on the right side, lower down the trolley jack a bit, and then compress the spring using the compressors. Lift the spring out of its place and inspect all its parts for wear or damage and renew them as needed. For refitting, mount the rubber seats over the
Control Arm and spring making sure that the spring ends align properly. Refit the compressed spring to the seat in the lower control arm and rotate it to bring it into contact correctly in the grooves. Raise the control arm using the jack and insert the top end of the spring in its recess in the body. Refit shock absorber if relevant, fixing before removing jack and tighten all nuts and bolts to specified torque. Finally, release and remove the spring compressor, completing the process by reversing the removal steps.
