How to remove and refit the valve cover and ignition coils for 1.8 and 2.0 litre petrol engines on 2004 Volvo S40?

Disconnect battery negative lead. Remove plastic cover, unplug camshaft sensor, detach harness and PCV hose. Note positions, remove three pegs and ignition coils. Unscrew and withdraw cylinder head cover, discard gasket and renew seals. Clean, fit new gasket, reassemble, torque bolts in sequence and route HT leads to matching coils.
