How to remove and refit the trunk lid latch on the tailgate lower trim panel on 2004 Volvo S40?

To remove the tailgate lower trim panel, remove the lock wiring plug and unscrew the three screws holding the lock mechanism in place. Open the tailgate, remove the exterior handle by unscrewing 4 screws and dismount the wiring plug. Refit by reversing these processes.
