With the timing marks thus aligned, fit the drive pinion for the distributor, in the position required for the distributor rotor to take up the marked position from that when the engine was disassembled. Make certain to thoroughly oil the pinion and the shaft before fitting them. The distributor flange should be installed with a new gasket and in the reverse of the dismantling process. To check the position of the rotor, it can be observed that when the timing marks coincide, cylinder No. 4 is at the top end of its compression stroke, thus the rotor should be selecting the plug on No. 4 cylinder, and the points just opened.
