Jack up the car and take off the wheel. If taking apart the back axle take note of the jacking remarks. Unbolt and remove the brake calipers, disc and parking brake shoes. Take off bolts that hold the brake backing plate to the axle casing. Withdraw the axle shaft, using a hammer if necessary.
