Volvo 3514440 Exhaust Manifold

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Safely raise and support the vehicle. 3. Unbolt the crossover pipe from the exhaust manifolds. 4. If equipped with a Y-type exhaust pipe, disconnect it at the left and right manifolds. 5. Remove any other necessary hardware and the manifold nuts. 6. Take out the manifold(s) from the cylinder head(s). 7. For installation, place the manifold(s) on the cylinder head(s) with new gaskets. 8. Tighten the manifold bolts to 7-11 ft. lbs. (10-15 Nm). 9. Reconnect the Y or crossover pipe. 10. Reinstall any removed hardware. 11. Lower the vehicle and reconnect the negative battery cable. 12. Start the vehicle to check for leaks.

It is advisable to soak the retaining hardware with a quality rust penetrant and wait at least 10-15 minutes for it to take effect.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the air cleaner and necessary hoses. 3. Detach the EGR valve pipe from the manifold. 4. Remove the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. 5. Take out the turbo, turbo pipes, and attaching hardware. 6. Remove the manifold nuts and manifold. 7. To install, position the manifold with a new gasket. 8. Tighten the manifold bolts to 10-20 ft. lbs. (14-27 Nm). 9. Reinstall the turbo, turbo pipes, and EGR valve pipe. 10. Reinstall the air cleaner and hoses. 11. Reconnect the negative battery cable before starting the vehicle to check for leaks.
