- Q: How to remove and refit the Trunk Lid Latch assembly and exterior handle from the tailgate on Volvo V70?A:To remove the lock assembly start by removing the tailgate interior lower trim panel. Next, reverse the three Torx bolts securing the lock assembly to the tailgate and disconnect the lock wiring plug. Then, unconnect the link rod from the lock and remove the lock on the tailgate. For the outside handle the procedure is: Remove the tailgate wiper motor, then disconnect the handle assembly wiring plug. Detach the latch rod from the exterior handle, undo the screws to remove the number plate light units and finally, undo the four nuts (two near the center and two at the edges) to carefully pull out the exterior handle from the tailgate after ensuring you feed the number plate light wiring out with the handle. After removing the exterior handle, remove the circlip in the back of the lock cylinder and pull the cylinder out of the exterior handle assembly. To refit, do the steps in reverse order.
