  To remove the rear brake cables, first loosen the rear wheel bolts and chock the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the car and support it on axle stands before removing the rear roadwheels. Next, take out the centre console, rear seat, and carpets as needed to access the cable entry in the floor pan. Ensure the handbrake is released, then slacken the handbrake adjuster nut at the lever to create enough slack in the cables for disconnecting the equaliser bracket. Remove the rear discs, then take out the rear seat cushion and fold the rear floor carpet forward to expose the outer brake cables. From inside the rear of the passenger cabin, press the cable rubber grommet rearwards into the bodywork and attach a length of strong wire to the front end of the cables to assist with refitting. Unhook the brake shoe return spring and the expander from the actuator sleeve, then detach the handbrake inner cable from the actuator sleeve by depressing the clip and sliding the inner cable end out. Carefully prise the cable guide sleeve from the hub carrier assembly, noting their fitted locations, and release the cable from any clips or brackets along its route. Pull the front of the cable out from the passenger cabin until the length of wire appears, then detach the wire, leaving it in place for the new cable. For refitting, attach the end of the inner cable to the handbrake shoe actuator and pull the actuator into position on the brake backplate, reconnecting the shoe return spring. Push the guide sleeve back into position on the hub carrier, ensuring the lug on the sleeve locates correctly. Attach the front end of the cable to the guide wire and pull it, along with the rubber grommet, into position inside the car, then reconnect the inner cable end to the handbrake lever equaliser plate and detach the guide wire. Refit the cable to the retaining/support brackets along its route, and complete the process by reversing the steps taken for removal. Finally, operate the handbrake two or three times to settle the cable and adjust it as necessary.
