- Q: How to remove the side view mirrors and their components on Volvo V50?A:To remove the door mirror glass, pivot it into the mirror housing as far as possible on the lower edge, then use a blunt, flat-bladed tool to prise the glass from the mounting at the upper edge, taking care not to apply excessive force to avoid breaking the glass, and disconnect the wiring plugs as the glass is withdrawn. For the door mirror motor, first remove the mirror glass, then undo the central nut, disconnect the wiring, and use a small screwdriver to release the clips securing the motor to the mirror housing. To remove the door mirror cover, take off the mirror glass, insert a small screwdriver into the access hole in the mirror housing to release the clip, and carefully prise the cover from the mirror, ensuring proper fit during refitting. For the complete door mirror unit, remove the door interior trim panel and disconnect the mirror wiring plug inside the door, support the mirror, undo the retaining bolt, and withdraw the mirror from the door while releasing the rubber grommet. For the interior mirror, prise apart the two halves of the cover over the mirror base/sensor, disconnect the mirror wiring plug if applicable, and twist the mirror base 90 degrees to detach it from the windscreen. Note that some models may have an Electronic Compass that requires recalibration upon refitting. The optional Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) warns the driver of vehicles in the blind spot using digital camera technology, illuminating a warning light on the inside door panel next to the mirror, and can be enabled via a switch on the facia panel; however, it does not react to bicycles or mopeds and only responds to vehicles with headlamps on at night.
