Volvo V50 Engine Oil Cooler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and refit the Engine Oil Cooler for 2.0 and 2.4 litre 5-cylinder diesel engine on Volvo V50?
    A:
To remove the oil cooler you must first drain the engine oil and coolant. Next, release the hose clamp and disconnect the coolant hoses from the coolant cooler on the rear face of the sump. Then, undo the bolts that hold the cooler in the sump and remove the O-ring seals as the cooler is removed, being ready for fluid spillage. For refitting, inspect mating faces of the sump and oil cooler for cleanliness, and refit the cooler with new O-ring seals and tighten the retaining bolts. After that re-connect coolant hoses and tie them with new clips if needed, and finally refill engine oils and cooling system.
