To remove the brake disc, you must first remove the hub cover, then you must loosen and remove the hub nut (discarding the hub nut, to ensure that you use a new hub nut when reassembling the brake pad). Next, remove the hub assembly from the stub axle and check it for any signs of wear or damage, replacing it if necessary. Before reassembling, clean the ABS sensor and the toothed ring in the back of the hub. Slide the hub assembly back onto the stub axle and secure on the new hub nut For pre-1998 model year vehicles, tighten the hub nut to the specified torque and reattach the hub cap. For later models, first tighten hub nut to the specified stage one torque setting, then angle tightening to specified angle 2 stage 2, using angle measurement gage for accuracy, if not available, white paint can be used to mark the alignment between the nut and hub for the check of correct angle. After making sure the hub nut is properly tightened, reattaching the hub cap and finally reattaching the brake disc.
