  Q: How to remove and refit the door window regulator motor and window glass on Volvo S70?

  To remove the motor of the door window regulator on S70N70 models, first remove the interior trim panel of the door, after raising the window and fixing it with adhesive tape, disconnect the motor wiring, remove three bolts, remove the motor from the regulator cassette. For refitting, follow the reverse steps to remove and check for proper operation of the door trim before reattaching it. For the window regulator cassette for S70N70 models, you will remove the motor, door speaker and plastic cover over the access aperture, followed by releasing the inner door handle return spring, undoing the pivot bolt and removing the handle lever frame. Lower the window glass to get at the glass carriages, pull out locking clips, undo eight bolts to pull the cassette out of the door. Refitting is carried out after the steps of removal with a check for correct operation. For C70 models, remove the door trim panel, locknuts from the adjuster screws and the door speaker, carefully remove soundproofing panels, undo screws holding the window cassette and disconnect the window motor wiring and remove the motors securing nuts. With help, lift the window cassette upward through the top of the door, ensuring proper alignment on refitting and adjusting the window as needed. The regulator motor is only removable after removal of the cassette and it is held in place by three bolts with control cables which have to be detached. For front and rear door window glass on S70/V70 models, remove the window regulator cassette, prise up the inner weatherstrip and lift the window out after lowering it. For C70 models, after cutting out the window regulator cassette, hold the glass up while cutting and removing shim plates and screws to support the glass in lifting it out. For the rear opening side window glass on C70 models, remove the seat belt upper mounting bolt, lift the trim panel, remove screws from the rear grab handle, disconnect the rear reading light and prise off the rear window trim panel. With help, loosen and remove the rear hinge bolt and front mounting nuts to remove the window glass, and refitting is a reversal of the procedure taken to remove the window glass.
