- Q: How to remove and install the Trunk Lid Latch lock cylinder on Volvo 780?A:To remove and install the lock cylinder, first remove the negative battery cable. For 4-door models, open the trunk lid and remove the clips in the lower right corner of the trunk lid trim, and carefully bend the trim back to reveal the lock cylinder. For wagon models, remove the liftgate trim panel and whatever trim is required to reach the lock cylinder. Disconnect the lock rod(s) to the lock cylinder, remove the retaining bolt for the bracket of the lock cylinder and the retaining clip. To install, the lock cylinder is installed in position and the clip is attached, the bracket is then installed and the tightening bolt tightened. Attach the lock rod to the lock cylinder, making sure it engages the latch mechanism correctly, re-install any trim removed and re-connect the negative battery cable.
