How to replace coolant temperature sensors on 2004 Volvo V70?

The coolant temperature sensor in the thermostat housing is used to signal the engine temperature to the management system and gauge. A fault records a code in the ECU that can be accessed through a diagnostic connector. To replace the sensor, drain coolant, remove housing, disconnect wiring and install new sensor with sealant. Reach the coolant level and top up.
