How to inspect and replace engine mountings except GDI engine on 2004 Volvo V40?

To inspect engine mountings raise car and check for damage to rubber, replace if needed. For right-hand mounting, disconnect the battery, prop up the engine and remove bolts. Repeat it for the left-hand mounting after removing the air cleaner. Put everything back together and tighten all fasteners appropriately.
