How to remove an oil pan in position on 1987 Volvo 245?

In 1979 a deeper sump pan was introduced, many steps were required to remove it with the engine in position. This includes raising the car, draining oil, removing the splash shield, and unbolting different components. Reinstallation is the reverse of the above process, with a new gasket and the steering coupling being correctly torqued.
