    For 1.8 and 2.0 litre petrol engines, take off the plastic cover on top of the engine, undo the alternator upper mounting bolt, raise the vehicle securely on axle stands, and if applicable, remove the engine undershield by undoing the 7 Torx screws. Then, disconnect the wiring plugs and lead from the terminal stud at the rear of the alternator, undo the 2 lower mounting bolts, and lift out the alternator.
