How to replace the Cabin Air Filter in the Duc evaporator housing on Volvo V40?

Slacken and remove the retaining screws to remove the passenger side lower panel from the facia. The pollen filter is in the underside of the Duc evaporator housing, to connect blower motor housing with heating/ventilation housing. Release the retaining clip and slide the pollen filter assembly out of the assembly noting its orientation. Insert the new filter assembly into the duct/housing, making sure that it is correctly positioned, then fix the filter in place and re-attach the lower panel to the facia.

How to replace the Cabin Air Filter by removing the lower facia panel in the passenger's footwell for diesel engines on Volvo V70?

Undo the two screws to remove the lower facia panel from above the passenger's footwell. Next, undo the four screws, remove the cover, and pull the pollen filter downwards from the heater housing. There are two possible locations in the heater housing for the pollen filter; standard filters slide up into the narrower slot, while multi-filters, used in vehicles with an air quality sensor, slide into the wider slot. It is important that both a standard and multi-filter are not fitted together. After sliding the appropriate filter into place, refit the cover and securely tighten the retaining screws before refitting the lower facia panel.

Insert the new filter assembly into the duct/housing, making sure that it is correctly positioned, then fix the filter in place and re-attach the lower panel to the facia.

There are two possible locations in the heater housing for the pollen filter; standard filters slide up into the narrower slot, while multi-filters, used in vehicles with an air quality sensor, slide into the wider slot. It is important that both a standard and multi-filter are not fitted together. After sliding the appropriate filter into place, refit the cover and securely tighten the retaining screws before refitting the lower facia panel.
