    Over vehicles with Automatic Climate Control (ACC) until the water temperature for the fan motor exceeds about 95deg F (35deg C) a thermal switch on the outlet hose from the heater core turns on the fan motor to prevent cold air entering the passenger compartment in winter, but is bypassed in defrost mode. For the 240 Series and Coupe, the process starts by disconnecting the negative battery cable and draining the cooling system, then moving the heater controls to the CLOSED position and removing different components such as soundproofing, side panels, the radio, and the center control panel. The glove box assembly and other dashboard elements are then removed, and the heater assembly accessed.
