Fit the belt tensioner and retaining nut and tighten the nut and remove the pin that was used during disassembly to compress the spring. Turn the crankshaft around until the timing marks match and then rotate the intermediate shaft until its timing marks match. Position valve cover and turn the camshaft to get the marks on the camshaft to match. Fit the toothed belt on the crankshaft gear, check that the toothed belt is clean and in good condition, the double lines on the toothed belt are on the crankshaft gear mark and the next line is on the intermediate shaft mark, and the last line is on the camshaft mark. Stretch out the belt and place it on the camshaft gear and on the belt tensioner without tools so as not to damage them Loosen the tensioner retaining nut to give spring tension to the belt, and then re-tighten the tensioner retaining nut. Rotate engine clockwise and ensure that belt marks are in correct alignment, retension belt and tighten nut to torque 37 lb ft (5 kg f m). If the car has air-conditioning, temporarily fit the pulley on the front hub using two bolts and then fit the belt guard casing and retension the belt after 600 miles (1000 km).
