How are the front and rear engine mounting pads inspected and renewed on 2004 Volvo V70?

The pads at the front and rear of the engine mounting are hydraulic in nature and their hardness is vacuum controlled by the engine management ECM, varying from soft to hard at approx. 1000 rpm. For better access raise up the front of the car and secure it on axle stands before removing the undershield. Inspect the mounting rubbers and replace any that are cracked, hardened or separated from the metal. Make sure all fasteners are tightly tightened, using a torque wrench if possible. Check for wear in the mounting by carefully levering against it to check for free play and if excessive wear is discovered, check fastener security and renew worn parts. To renew the top rear mounting, pull the plastic cover upwards and undo the bolts holding the engine cross-stay to one side, push the hose bracket to one side and remove the rear mounting. Position the new mounting and tighten the bolts to the correct torque then reattach the hose bracket and engine cross stay. For the bottom torque rod, raise the vehicle and take off the undershield of the engine and maneuver the torque rod out and then place the new one in and tighten the fasteners. For the rear hydraulic mounting, the first thing to do is jack up the car, remove the undershield of the engine, disconnect the vacuum pipe, remove the old mounting and fit the new one, checking it is aligned properly and all fasteners are tight. The front hydraulic mounting follows similar steps: removal of the air hose, vacuum hose, lifting the engine and installing the new mounting with new screws and nuts. For the right hand engine mounting, slacken roadwheel bolts and jack up car, remove engine undershield and access panel. Support the engine using a trolley jack, remove the old mounting and install the new one using the new bolts and make sure everything is tightened to the specified torque before putting the vehicle back together.
