How should the fuel tank be emptied and removed on 1987 Volvo 245?

In order to empty the fuel tank, it should be syphoned out and the floor panel removed in the boot. Disconnect hoses and leads, unscrew mounting screws, cut the sealing mastic and pull down the tank. The fumes are stored in a canister until burned. Reinstall by reversing the process and renewing the sealing mastic.
